Drive Smart is a quality driving school operating in Adelaide, South Australia.

Starting out as an "Owner Operator" Driving School in the year 2000, Drive Smart is expanding.

We now offer Learner, Advanced and Defensive Driver Training from the City to Gawler, East to the Hills and South to Maslin Beach, we now have Instructors covering most Metro suburbs plus the Gawler Area.

Our Instructors operate from Athelstone, Brahma Lodge, Gawler, Golden Grove, Kensington Gardens, O'Sullivan Beach, and Warradale.

We are always looking for Professional, Quality Driving Instructors to join the Drive Smart Team.

Please note that prices may be subject to change without notice, but we will always
endeavour to keep the price list up to date.

We make no apologies for being perhaps more expensive than the previous school
you spoke to, but our prices are realistic to keeping our businesses running effectively.

Who is Drive Smart Driving School?

Drive Smart Driving School is South Australian owned and operated by Mark and Jenny Fraser.

Mark and Jenny are joined by a growing group of Instructors operating as sub-contractors. The whole team share a passion for driving and helping others to become excellent drivers.

To ensure they are delivering the best possible training and are maintaining their professional skills, team members regularly attend Industry Association Workshops and Seminars. The "Drive Smarties" also get together regularly for training sessions and sometimes, just for fun.

Meet The Drive Smart Team

Mark and Jenny

Mark is the Founder and Proprietor of Drive Smart Driving School. Qualifying as a Motor Driving Instructor (MDI) and starting Drive Smart in 2000, he is passionate about all things driving and sharing the "Drive Smart And Safe" message with others.

Mark is a truly qualified driving teacher with extensive experience on Australian roads plus time driving in the UK. Mark has driven many vehicles in all types of conditions, including competition at various levels. He has technical motoring knowledge to support what is taught - not just what and how, but why. Mark has furthered his MDI qualifications, particularly in the area of applying adult education and training principles to driver training.

Jenny handles the office and administration side of things. She is the "voice" of Drive Smart and is most likely who you will first talk to when you call.

While not an Instructor, Jenny has successfully completed the full Drive Smart driver training program and participates in the ADTA SA training workshops. She also organises and joins in with all our training sessions along with the rest of the team.

Jenny is also the Proprietor of Twisted Trunk Designs and in 'all her spare time', puts a hand to designing websites -  including this one, other Graphic Design projects, as well as more hands-on artistic creations.

Leonie became a part of the Drive Smart Team in August 2007, operating from Gawler. She has been a Driving Instructor since 1980. Over the years, Leonie has owned and operated her own business and also sub-contracted to other Driving Schools.

In 1996, Leonie joined the Department of Transport (currently DTEI - Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure) and took up the role of training licensed drivers to become Motor Driving Instructors (MDI). This was eventually outsourced to the private sector and Leonie shifted to training MDIs to become Authorised Examiners for both CBT and VORT. Part of her requirements in this field was to audit MDIs to ensure the required Standard was achieved.

Leonie also spent  a number of years assessing Aged and Medical clients in regard to their fitness to continue driving.

Coming out of DTEI employment, Leonie applied to join the Drive Smart team and was enthusiastically welcomed.

Dino has been with Drive Smart since December 2007 and operates from Athelstone. He is a keen participant in the Drive Smart Instructor training program, continuing to develop his teaching and training skills above and beyond the standard required.

He has taught Ball Room Dancing for over 12 years and applies similar principles when teaching people to drive.

Dino has successfully operated his DJ business - Detone Promotions,  for 27 years and continues to enjoy a pleasant mix of all 3 career choices.

Graham joined Drive Smart in October 2008, operating from Golden Grove. A successful and respected Driving Instructor since 1999, Graham operated his own driving school, as well as being employed in the Communications Industry for a considerable number of years.

Driving huge kilometres while working in the Communications Industry, Graham has invaluable city and country driving experience to draw on when teaching new drivers to be aware, smart thinking and safe.

Graham is currently taking a break from Instructing and has joined a friend of his in a Business venture in the Solar Industry. We wish him and his wife Marg and family all the very best.

The door is always open if Graham wishes to come back as he was and still is highly valued and respected member of our Drive Smart Family.

Harry was delighted to join the Drive Smart Team in June 2009. A highly respected Instructor, he and his wife Molly have operated their successful driving school business for 20 years - 10 of these based in Mount Pleasant and 10 in Warradale.

Harry started his career as a Driving Instructor in the British army. He taught soldiers to drive a variety of vehicles in all kinds of conditions including desert conditions and the middle east. Fortunately for us, he then decided to emigrate to Australia with his family to take up work in the transport industry including driving fork lift trucks and as a bus operator. After a while, Harry returned to Driver Training, starting with a large Adelaide company and working with them for many years. When not out teaching, he loves to play golf and go walking to keep active.

Harry is an experienced and accredited Instructor who is known for his patience and perseverance with his clients.

Ken joined the Drive Smart Team in May 2009. He operates from Kensington Gardens. With a background in training and education, Ken enjoys helping his students to achieve their goals. Having driven in several countries around the world in all sorts of conditions he is well equipped to pass his experiences on to his clients. He also has a good knowledge of motor cars and how they work which is really helpful when explaining the driving how and why's.

A people person, Ken enjoys helping his clients to become great drivers.

Terry brings with him a great driver training history. Teaching people to become great drivers runs in the family. His Mother and Grandfather were Instructors before him.

Terry started with us October 2009 and operates from O'Sullivan Beach with the support of his wife Kerensa. Together they make a great team. He is a new dad and has a patient and gentle manner. Teaching mainly in his Manual Training Vehicle, he also has an Auto Car for those who need it (Limited use).
