PRAY YOU DID ENOUGH!
When you are
lying wide-awake at night (or sitting up reading), waiting for your newly licensed driver to come home, there is only
one thing that you can do. Pray you did enough.
They are an
hour late and haven’t called. The doubts and questions are flooding in.
Did you
do enough for them while they were on their Learners!
Did you
make sure they had the best Driving Instructor?
It’s
been raining all night, did you spend
enough time driving with them on wet roads?
Did you
make them drive home from a friend’s house late at night? It’s even later
now and they are out there somewhere on their own! They could be anywhere!
Is the
car you bought them the safest you could afford? Has it broken down? If they
bought their own car, could you
have pitched in a few dollars so they could buy a better, safer car?
You don’t
want to ring them because they might be tempted to answer the phone and they are
supposed to be driving home by now. All you can
do is hope you did enough and wait for them to turn in the driveway.
It won’t
matter how much you do, the doubts will be there. They will be worse if you
don’t put the effort in. They will change from “did I do enough” type doubts to
“I wish I had” type fears.
Do everything
you can while you have the chance. Do it while your Learner is keen to learn.
They will
never be learning to drive for the first time again!
Don’t wait until the “I wish I had” fears come crashing in. By then it is too
late!
